15 minutes drive north west on the coast road you will find the Neolithic standing stones at Machrie moor. Dated at over 2,000 years old the site is an enduring mystery.

North again takes you to the small 9 hole Machrie golf course with its unique hole which includes shooting over the public road!

Travelling further north you come to the beautifully scenic village of Lochranza. With its natural sea inlet backed by the towering hills Lochranza is a quiet anchorage and also the home of a fine whisky distillery and visitor centre.

Arran is blessed with a number of pairs of Golden Eagles and there are many reported sightings from the distillery in Lochranza. The Golden Eagle population on Arran is significant in terms of the number of young fledged each year. It is the most important population in southern Scotland.
